Inclusive Language AI Tool - Promoting Bias-Free Communication at Zain Jordan

In celebration of National Inclusion Week, Zain Jordan introduced the Inclusive Language AI Tool, designed to promote bias-free communication across all levels of the organization. This tool, proposed by Areen Hatamleh, is an AI solution capable of automatically detecting and correcting biased or exclusionary phrases in employee communications, policies, and documents. The goal is to ensure that Zain's internal and external interactions become more inclusive and respectful.

The Vanguard Sara Neimat and enablers Ali Aqi and Taimaa Salameh from the Data Analytics & AI team have worked collaboratively to ensure its seamless implementation. The tool has the potential to significantly improve the way employees communicate, fostering an environment where diversity is embraced, and all voices are valued equally.

The first stage of the project focused on building the basic framework of the AI tool, ensuring its ability to identify and correct biased language. The team is now working on expanding the tool’s features and adding a translation function, which will enable the AI tool to identify and correct biased language in multiple languages, ensuring inclusivity across all of Zain’s operations.

To further enhance the tool's capabilities, the enablers have partnered with OpenAI to facilitate the integration of a component that will allow for continuous learning and improvement. This collaboration will ensure that the AI tool stays up-to-date with evolving language norms and remains a valuable resource for Zainers over time.

The launch of the Inclusive Language AI Tool represents Zain's commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive workplace. By addressing unconscious bias and promoting inclusive language, the tool will help Zain foster a more welcoming environment for all employees and stakeholders, setting a positive example in the industry.
