Wellness Zone - Zain's Commitment to Employee Wellbeing

This initiative, submitted by Shakeel Aboobakar – Zain Group, introduces a dedicated ZAINIAC x BE WELL Wellness Zone on the 3rd floor of the Zain HQ in Kuwait. Designed as a place where employees from departments such as IDE, Risk, Branding, and Regulatory Affairs can step away from their desks to recharge, de-stress, and engage in self-development, this wellness zone offers a unique space for relaxation and inspiration. This idea was brought to life with the support of the BE WELL team, the ZAINIAC program, and Vanguard – Kenric Mendonsa. Special thanks to Lina Shammas, Head of BE WELL, for her guidance and support throughout the implementation.

Wellness Benefits
The wellness zone is designed to enhance mental health and overall wellbeing by providing employees with an inviting space that promotes relaxation and creativity. With comfortable seating, self-development books such as ‘Atomic Habits’, a whiteboard for ideation and brainstorming, and de-stressing activities like coloring books and simple games, this area offers a vital break from the day-to-day pressures of work. The space, positioned near a window, also takes full advantage of natural light, further fostering a calming and rejuvenating atmosphere.

This initiative highlights Zain’s ongoing commitment to fostering a workplace culture that values employee wellness. Creating dedicated wellness spaces not only helps reduce stress but also aligns with Zain’s broader BE WELL program, aimed at supporting the mental, physical, and emotional health of all employees. The wellness zone is part of a larger effort to build a culture of wellbeing at Zain and ensure that employees feel empowered to take care of themselves during their workday.

Looking Ahead: Expanding Wellness Zones Across Zain
As part of the future progression of this idea, ZAINIAC plans to expand these wellness zones to other floors of the Kuwait HQ and across other Zain operations. This expansion will ensure that all employees have access to dedicated spaces for relaxation, self-reflection, and creativity, fostering a healthier and more engaged workforce across the organization.
